1. GAR Disability Advocates Scholarship
The GAR Disability Advocates Scholarship is an annual scholarship worth $1,000 and it’s awarded to an exceptional law student accepted to an accredited law school in the United States. Applicants have to write an essay of no more than 500 words.
2. Lavelle-Brother Kearney Scholarship Program
This is one of the law school scholarships for disabled students provided by Lavelle Fund for the Blind and it is focused on eligible blind and visually impaired college students.
The scholarship is available for both graduate and undergraduate students that are U.S. citizens or legal residents in the United States.
3. Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. Disability Scholarship Program
This is one of the scholarships for law-disabled students that accepts no legal fee until you settle or win the award. The scholarship is provided for students of any age, with any type of disability, including but not limited to physical disabilities, medical conditions, mental or psychiatric conditions, speech and language, learning disabilities, behavioral conditions, and all other conditions.
The winner of the scholarship will be awarded $1,000, and applicants need to be U.S. citizens enrolled at an accredited college or university within the United States.
4. The Coelho Center’s Law Fellows Program
This program provides lots of offers to disabled students such as;
- a one-week summer intensive course at Loyola Law School;
- an academic-year-long virtual course;
- a mentoring program between fellows and law students and attorneys with disabilities;
- academic planning and support through the law school application process; and,
- a $1,000 stipend to be used for school supplies
5. The Richard Linn American Inn of Court: Mark T. Banner Scholarship
This is one of the law school scholarships for both disabled and healthy students that have entered into a JD program at an ABA-accredited law school in the United States. Undergraduate, graduate, or law school students that have leadership qualities and have involved in community activities can apply for this scholarship.
The amount of $10,000 will be awarded to the winner of the scholarship for payment of their academic fees.
6. Washington Attorneys with Disabilities Association Scholarship
At least one scholarship of $1,500 is awarded to a law student who has a disability and shows commitment to helping promote meaningful inclusion of people with disabilities throughout the legal profession. You need to submit an essay of 500 words or less;
- Telling them about your experience with disability or the disability community
- Explaining why you are attending law school and what you envision as your future as an attorney or with your law degree
7. DuPage Association of Women Lawyers: Judge Helen C. Kinney Scholarship
This scholarship was created in honor of Judge Helen C. Kinney who was a true leader and visionary for women in DuPage County. This is one of the law school scholarships for disabled students that is available for All first, second, and third-year women law students, with a DuPage County connection, enrolled in an accredited law school in Illinois.
8. MALDEF Law School Scholarship Program
The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) provides scholarships to support law students who seek to further MALDEF’s mission of advancing the civil rights of the Latino community in the United States. The scholarship ranges from $2,000 to $10,000
9. Patrick Malone & Associates Scholarship to Law Students for Representing Real People
Patrick Malone & Associates provides 2 (two) scholarships worth $5,000 each to law students committed to a career representing individuals. Applicants can either be disabled or healthy and must be accepted at an accredited U.S. law school and plan to attend in the fall of the year of application.
10. AccessLex Law School Scholarship Databank
AccessLex Law School is providing a collection of more than 800 carefully curated and vetted scholarship opportunities and writing competitions. All of these scholarships are worth more than $3 million in aid.
11. George H. Nofer Scholarship for Law and Public Policy
This scholarship is provided for full-time graduate students with pre-lingual bilateral hearing loss in the moderately severe to profound range, who use listening and spoken language as their primary methods of communication. Applicants have to be attending full-time accredited mainstream law school or graduate school working towards a master’s or doctoral degree in public policy or public administration.
The scholarship is awarded to 3 recipients in the amount of $5,000 each annually, also previous recipients are eligible to apply during the next year.
12. Fish & Richardson: 1L Diversity Fellowship Program
This is one of the law school scholarships for disabled students awarded to first-year law students throughout the country, annually. There are lots of offers to winners of the scholarship such as;
- A paid summer associate position in one of Fish & Richardson’s domestic offices during the summer
- Mentoring throughout the academic year by members of the firm
- Participation in the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity 1L Scholars Program
- And a scholarship reward of up to $30,000.
13. American Council of the Blind and American Foundation for the Blind Scholarship
AFB is partnering with American Council of the Blind (ACB) to provide this scholarship for blind and visually impaired students ranging from $2,000 to $7,500. To be eligible for this scholarship applicants need to be in a law school, technical college or attending university as an entering freshman, undergraduate, or graduate student.
Academic excellence is also needed to be eligible, applicants need to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.
14. National Federation of the Blind Scholarship
This is one of the largest law school scholarships for disabled students that awards over $250,000 in cash and prizes to blind scholars across the fifty states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico in recognition of their achievements and professional aspirations.
The federation provides 30 (thirty) $8,000 merit-based scholarships, and the finalists also have the privilege to attend their national convention where the winners of each individual scholarship are selected.
15. Loyola Law School – NBCUniversal Tony Coelho Scholarship
This law school scholarship for students with disabilities is provided by the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and it’s approved by the Loyola Law School. It is awarded to 8 candidates ($5,625 each).
Conclusion
