Straight A Scholarship

About Straight A Scholarship

The Straight “A” Scholarship is one among the seven (7) Impact Programs established by the Anthony Munoz Foundation. This scholarship cannot be talked about without the foundation that provides it, so let’s take a quick look at the foundation.

The Anthony Munoz Foundation is a non-profit organization established in April 2002 with the mission of engaging the Tri-State region to impact youth – especially vulnerable, at-risk populations – mentally, physically, and spiritually through its seven Impact Programs.

These programs are:

  • Scholarship Fund
  • Straight “A” Scholarship
  • Impact for Eternity Camp
  • Football Academy
  • Hispanic Character Camp
  • Youth Leadership Seminar
  • Whizz Kids + Unplugged

Through these programs, the Anthony Munoz Foundation has impacted the lives of more than 55,000 youths by educating, promoting, recognizing, and rewarding Tri-State youth who excel in all phases of life.

As you can see, the Straight “A” Scholarship is just one of the Impact Programs of this foundation, which is where this article is concentrated.

The Straight A scholarship is offered each year to 18 Tri-State high school seniors to honor and recognize them for their ability to overcome Adversity and Actively serve the community while striving for Academic excellence, strong Ambition, Athletic achievement, and a winning Attitude.

So, the “A” in Straight “A” scholarship stands for:

  • Active in community service
  • Academic excellent
  • Athletic achievement
  • Overcoming adversity
  • Strong ambition
  • Winning attitude.

Straight A Scholarship Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for the straight A scholarship are as follows:

All high school students, freshmen through seniors, with a minimum 3.0 grade point average in the Foundation’s Area of Impact can be nominated and recognized. Please note, that while all students are eligible for recognition, only senior nominees are eligible for scholarship awards.

Eighteen (18) Tri-State students (nine male and nine female) will receive $2,000 each in scholarships toward their college education. Then one overall male and one overall female Straight “A” Student of the Year will be chosen and awarded an additional $3,000 for a total of $5,000 scholarship.

How to Apply for Straight A Scholarship

The application for the Straight A Scholarship is done via nomination. Your high school teacher who believes you meet all the criteria above will nominate you for the scholarship. All nominations are then screened and evaluated by the Straight A Scholarship committee. If you are selected, your teacher will inform you.

If your teacher does not know about this scholarship, show it to them to nominate you for the award.

Conclusion

The Straight A Scholarship is one of the easiest scholarships for high school seniors that I have come across but even so, do not depend on just this scholarship.
