About the Jackie Robinson Scholarship

We cannot talk about the Jackie Robinson scholarship without talking about where it all began – the foundation itself.

The Jackie Robinson Foundation was established in 1973 by Rachel Robinson in memory of her beloved husband, Jackie Robinson. The foundation was established as a public, nonprofit organization that provides one of the nation’s premier scholarship and leadership development programs for college students.

Ever since the establishment of the Jackie Robinson Foundation, the foundation continues to provide educational opportunities by awarding 4-year scholarships coupled with mentoring, job placement, and leadership development opportunities to highly motivated college students with financial need – this is known as the JRF Scholars Program.

There is also the JRF IMPACT Program, a program that makes elements of JRF’s college success curriculum available to a broader population of collegians who receive advice, access resources, and connect with other students and mentors across the country through an interactive digital platform. To learn more about the JRF IMPACT Program, click here.

Today, the Jackie Robinson Foundation has given out more than $117 million in scholarships to over 1,900 students across 260+ universities and colleges in the US.

What Does the Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship Cover?

Students who are selected to receive the Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship are known as JRF Scholars. These Scholars will receive up to $35,000 over four years for their college education and will receive extra financial sponsorship to attend JRF’s annual, four-day “Mentoring and Leadership Conference” in New York City and other events throughout the year.

Aside from this financial support, JRF Scholars will benefit from a comprehensive, four-year program that includes career guidance, internship and permanent job placement, travel abroad, and leadership and practical life skills training.

Students who receive this scholarship, that is the JRF Scholars, are required to perform community service throughout college which they will document and keep all accounts on file with JRF staff. These scholars are also encouraged to embrace the core values of the organization which are; Discipline, Integrity, Humility, Compassion, and Courage.

Jackie Robinson Scholarship Login – How to login

Here is a well-detailed step-by-step guide on how to navigate the Jackie Robinson Foundation scholarship website and log in successfully.

Go to the log-in/sign-in web page by clicking here, you will see two options there; Returning Users and First-time Users.

Beneath Returning Users there is a link to Log in to continue your application. You will only click on login if you have set up an account on the website before. When you click log in, it takes you to another web page where you will input your email address and password then click the login button to continue your application.

But if you have no account on the website, that is, you have never created an account before, then you will click on “create an account to start a new application” which is under First-Time Users. This link will take you to a web page where you will input your details like your email address, first name, last name, and birthdate, then hit “continue” to take you to the next page and at the same time prompt a temporary pin to be sent to your email address.

Go to your email, copy the temporary pin paste it in the textbox in “Temporary Pin”, select your birthdate again, and hit Login. This would take you to another page to set your password, follow the rules to set a password, and click “set password” to continue.

The next page should take you to “Application Management” and you should get a message there that says “You have not yet started an application using this account”. Then select Start New Application just underneath the web page.

If you do all of these after the deadline or before the scholarship application even begins a pop-up message that reads “There are no application types currently available” will appear on your screen. Do not fret when you see this, just come back when the application is open and this time, you will only log in with your email address and password and not create an account from scratch.

However, if applications have already begun, you will most likely see a form to fill.

But then, how do you know when the application opens? What if you forget to keep track of it?

Well, there is another way and I am going to show you.

Click here, on the page that opens you will see a YouTube video, I recommend watching it, and a form to input your details. Just below the form, before you hit the submit button, there is a Yes and No option that you can tick whether you want to be notified of when the application opens. Select “Yes” and input your mobile phone number then hit the submit button. This way, you will be notified of when the application opens.

And that is how you navigate the Jackie Robinson scholarship log-in.
