Duck® Brand Duct Tape is a company that produces hand-tearable duct tape that can be used for temporary repairs and everyday fixes such as holding, seaming, sealing, and bundling.

This contest is only for high school students attending prom. They will get duct tape from Duck® Brand Duct Tape to make prom attires. All contestants will be voted for by other students and the two students with the most votes will win a grand prize of $10,000 each in the Dress and Tux categories respectively while the eight runner-ups will receive $500 each and the Duck Brand prize pack worth $100.

The two grand prizes are awarded to one winner in the Dress Category and one winner in the Tux Category. The two runner-ups are selected from the Dress and Tux categories as well, one from each category.

Who can Apply for the Stuck at Prom Scholarship?

High school students and homeschooled students can apply for the Stuck at Prom scholarship contest. Below are other eligibility criteria to apply for the Stuck at Prom scholarship contest:

  • You must be a legal resident of the United States or Canada
  • Must be at least 14 years of age or older
  • Applicant must be enrolled in high school or home school association at the high school level
  • Former participants are ineligible to participate

Eligible participants may enter the contest as one single individual only. Each entrant must create and wear: prom attire consisting of either a complete dress (for the dress category) or a complete tuxedo (for the tux category) and accessories made using Duck® Brand Duct Tape.

Entrants are free to use other materials in addition to the Duck® Brand Duct Tape in their design. Every entrant is required to submit at least one photo showing you wearing your Duck® Brand Duct Tape attire. The picture can be taken anywhere.

Your attire must be an original design, that is, it has not previously won any award or contest and should not be copied, incorporated, or based on the work of a third party. Your friends and/or family can assist you in creating the prom attire but paid professionals are not allowed to help you else it would lead to immediate disqualification.

How to Apply for the Stuck at Prom Scholarship

To apply for the Stuck at Prom scholarship, eligible entrants will enter the contest via the Duck® Brand Duct Tape website and fill out the entry form.

Entrants must submit the following:

  • Five high-resolution pictures in your Duck® Brand Duct Tape attire.
  • Your details as requested on the entry form
  • Give some written details about your Duck® Brand Duct Tape attire as requested on the entry form or upload a video showing the requested details about your outfit following the instructions on the entry form.
  • photographer release form if the photo submission is professional (to be obtained from the photographer and uploaded with entry)

All entries must be in English language and all entries are submitted online.

Entrants who are considered minors must enter their parent or legal guardian’s first name, last name, and email address in addition to the entrant’s name. Now, when the form is submitted, an approval email will be sent to the parent or legal guardian confirming the entry with the subject line “Stuck at Prom® Contest Parental Consent”.

It is then up to the parent or legal guardian to approve their child to join the contest. The committee of the contest will abide by whatever decision the parent or guardian selects. Also, a parent or legal guardian can opt-out their child at any time during the contest period.

When your entry is received, you will be notified via email that your entry has been received then the moderation of your entry begins. After the moderation period, you will receive another email notification whether your entry has been accepted or denied.

The picture of every accepted entrant will be displayed on the Stuck at Prom scholarship contest website and may be posted indefinitely.

Next is the judging period. All accepted entries will be judged by a panel of expert judges based on the criteria below:

Voting is limited to one vote in each of the Dress Category and the Tux Category per email address per day. A day is defined as 12:00:00 AM EDT to 11:59:59 PM EDT.
