- Having a very good GPA
- Having 2 to 3 years of work experience (in some cases)
- You might be required to have the CPA or the CFA designation
- You might also be required to graduate with your bachelor’s degree from the school you intend to further your MBA.
MBA Programs in Canada Without GMAT
1. Asper MBA at the University of Manitoba
Besides the fact that Asper MBA Program makes an exemption on their GMAT requirement, they still provide an excellent program that meets the market-driven needs of today’s industry professionals. Also, they have reputable recognition when it comes to graduates that are employed immediately; 91% of their students are employed full-time after graduating, and these students earn an average of $80,784.
Note that their Asper MBA Program admission requirements demand that you have GMAT, but they make an exemption if;
- You have a minimum GPA of 3.3 on a 4.5 scale
- You have the CPA or the CFA designation
- You graduated with a bachelor of commerce at the University of Manitoba with a minimum of 3.5 GPA.
2. VIU MBA Program

- Candidates who have a bachelor’s degree in business but who have not achieved a result of B+ or better in the final two years of their degree may be required to write the GMAT and achieve a minimum overall score of 600 or may be required to write the GRE and achieve a minimum overall score of 315.
7. University of British Columbia – Sauder School of Business
The University of British Columbia provides an MBA Program without GMAT to both international students and domestic applicants, but the deadline to take advantage of the waiver varies, with the international deadline coming approximately 3 months earlier than the domestic deadline.
To be eligible for the waiver, you need to meet one of these requirements;
- A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree with a minimum academic average of B+ or equivalent, or
- A Level III CFA designation and a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a minimum academic average of B+ or equivalent.
8. Ryerson University – Ted Rogers MBA Program
One of the reasons I love the Ted Rogers MBA program at Ryerson University besides the fact they provide a GMAT waiver program, is because they ensure that what you learn in the classroom is enhanced by real-world knowledge and experience. Regarding the GMAT requirement, only Ryerson University’s undergraduate alumni can apply to this program without submitting a GMAT score but they must meet other admission requirements.
9. University of Ottawa – Telfer School of Management
The University of Ottawa provides one of the MBA programs in Canada without the GMAT, but you need to meet one of these 2 criteria to avoid a GMAT score;
- Applicants who have completed their BCom, Ph.D., CPA, JD, or MD degree at the University of Ottawa or other Canadian universities with an average of 75% (B+) or above at the time of their application will not be required to write either the GMAT or the GRE test
- If you have completed any other undergraduate degree or master’s degree at the University of Ottawa or other Canadian universities with an average of 80% (A-) or above at the time of application, you will not be required to write either the GMAT or the GRE test.
