The Navy League Foundation scholarships are another association-related scholarship that you can apply for if you satisfy their requirements. But before we fully dive into the scholarships from the Navy League Foundation, let’s take a quick look at the foundation.
The Navy League Foundation is an establishment of the Navy League of the United States. The League is a national association founded in 1902 with the support of President Theodore Roosevelt. The association was established as a nonprofit civilian, educational, and advocacy organization that supports America’s sea services: the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and US Flag Merchant Marine.
Through the Navy League Foundation, the Navy League of the United States offers varieties of scholarships to children and grandchildren of veterans or active duty sea service men and women, as well as members of the US Naval Sea Cadet Corps.

1. Sea Service Descendants Scholarships
This is one of the scholarships offered by the Navy League Foundation and requires a separate application. The scholarship is offered to high school seniors who want to attend college or a vocational institution. To qualify, you must either be the dependent of the direct descendant of a current or a former member of the US Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or US Flag Merchant Marines or an active member of the US Naval Sea Cadet Corps.
Application materials for this scholarship are a 1,000-word essay, official transcript, official SAT or ACT scores, letter of recommendation, biography, official student aid report from complete FAFSA, and proof of qualifying service duty.
2. Military Spouse Scholarship
The Military Spouse Scholarship is jointly funded by the Navy League Foundation and Columbia Southern University (CSU). To qualify, you must be a spouse to personnel of the US Navy, US Marine Corps, or US Coast Guard. Applicants must be a high school graduate, GED, or equivalent, must maintain a 3.0 undergraduate or graduate GPA, and be at least 18 years old or older.
Furthermore, you must be a student of CSU or about to be enrolled in a degree program at CSU. The scholarship is renewable annually.
3. Navy League Council Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2017 in honor of National Sea Cadet Month to support graduating seniors in the Sea Cadet program. The scholarship is awarded annually and there is no separate application for it unlike the one above.
4. Navy League Regional Scholarship
Every year, the Navy League’s Pacific Southwest Region awards a $1,000 scholarship to a US Naval Sea Cadet. You must be a US citizen, enrolled in the Naval Sea Cadet program in the Pacific Southwest Region, and have attained the rank of a Petty Office or higher.
Furthermore, applicants must be enrolled in a college program and submit an official high school transcript as part of the scholarship application.
5. Alexander Krieglowa Navy and Marine Corps Dependents Education Foundation Scholarship Program
This is a combined scholarship from the Navy and Marine Corps offered to a dependent child of Naval service personnel who are on active duty, retired, or deceased. Applicants must also be a resident of California, demonstrate financial need, be accepted into a 4-year college, and be a graduating senior with a 3.0 CGPA or higher.
The value of the scholarship is $15,000 per year which is renewable for up to 4 years. The fund covers tuition, school materials, and fees. The scholarship is provided annually, so, if you missed it this year you can check in next year.
6. Jack and Eileen Anderson Scholarship
This is one of the Navy League Foundation scholarships awarded to a student enrolled in a college and is a child or grandchild of a member of the sea services. The scholarship value is $10,000 and awarded over four years.
7. Jewell H. Bonner Scholarship
This scholarship is the same as the one above both in criteria and scholarship value. The major difference is that this scholarship gives preference to applicants with a Native American heritage.
8. Collins Aerospace Scholarship
Collins Aerospace Scholarship is provided by the Navy League Foundation to a child or grandchild of a member of the US Navy, US Marine Corps, US Coast Guard, or any of the sea services. It is awarded to only one student who wishes to pursue a degree in engineering, aviation, or science at an accredited institution.
The scholarship is worth $2,500 and is given only once. It is non-renewable.
9. Subic Bay-Cubi Point Scholarship
If you are the child or grandchild of a member of the sea services you are welcome to apply for the Subic Bay-Cubi Point Scholarship award. However, preference will be given to applicants who are dependent on sponsors who were permanently attached to the US Naval Facility commands in the Philippines (Subic Bay, Cubi Point, or San Miguel) between January 1980 and December 1992.
The scholarship value is $10,000 and is offered to two students. The funding is directed towards the higher education of the winner to pay tuition and other necessary college fees.
10. RADM William A. Sullivan, USN (Ret) Scholarship
If you are enrolled in a program at a college and a child or grandchild of a member of the sea services you can apply for this scholarship award worth $10,000. It is awarded to 4 students but preference will be given to students enrolled in an engineering or science program.
11. Alaska Sea Service Scholarship
Undergraduate students who are residents of Alaska and a dependent child or spouse of the US Navy, US Marine Corps, or the US Coast Guard can apply for this scholarship. It is offered every year to 4 students and it is worth $1,000.
