1. Vector Scholarship in Artificial Intelligence

The Vector Scholarship in Artificial Intelligence is the first on the list of Ontario scholarships for high school students and they support recruiting exceptional students to AI-related master’s programs in Ontario. A $17,500 entrance scholarship is awarded to top students pursuing an AI master’s at Ontario University, these merit-based entrance awards recognize exceptional candidates pursuing a master’s program recognized by the Vector Institute or candidates who are following an individualized study path that is demonstrably AI-focused.

Nominations for the Vector Scholarship in AI are currently open until March 21, 2024, at 4:00 PM EST. Ontario University master’s programs are invited to nominate top applicants for the Vector Scholarship in Artificial Intelligence. 2. P. A. J. Clarke Family Scholarship

Provided by the University of Guelph, Paul, and Aileen Clarke, and their family established the endowment for this entrance scholarship in honor of Paul’s father, the late Jack Clarke, a Blenheim area farmer. Apply by April 15 by submitting the P.A.J. Clarke Family Scholarship application and the online Financial Need Assessment Form for Entrance Awards (E.N.A.F.) as soon as the acknowledgment email from Admission Services (this will come automatically after an application for admissions has been submitted by the student) is received. Financial need will be considered but is not a requirement.

This award is not tenable with the President’s Scholarships or Lincoln Alexander Chancellor’s Scholarships. Annual payments are contingent upon full-time enrolment and maintaining a minimum 70% average on the previous Fall and Winter semesters. Students may be contacted to provide special-needs circumstances if there is a short list of equal candidates. The scholarship offers one award of $12,000 (payable over 4 years). Students with a minimum 80% average with a record of leadership and community participation. 3. Gary Knechtel Memorial Scholarship

Provided by the University of Guelph, this scholarship was established in memory of Gary Knechtel (1943 – 1988) a revered and outstanding leader in the food industry and a long-time member of the Canadian Institute of Food Science and Technology. The recipient will be encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities and to participate in the activities of the Ontario Section of the Canadian Institute of Food Science and Technology. Subsequent installment payments are dependent on continued demonstration of financial need and satisfactory progress in the Food Science major.

Students should complete the online Financial Need Assessment Form for Entrance Awards (E.N.A.F.) as soon as they receive their acknowledgment email from Admission Services (this will come automatically after an application for admissions has been submitted by the student) or by April 15th. Selection will be based on the highest admission average. The scholarship gives one award of $10,000 (payable over 4 years of study)

Access awards are for students graduating from a secondary school in Ontario and entering the Food Science major of the BSc degree with demonstrated financial need. 4. Pierre Lassonde Entrance Awards in Engineering

This scholarship is the next on the list of Ontario scholarships for high school students and is available to Eleven (11) recipients and valued at $6,000 (entrance only, non-renewable). These awards are open to students entering an engineering program with a minimum 85% overall average in the final year of high school and who exhibit characteristics of leadership through their extracurricular activities. Applicants must be Ontario residents and demonstrate financial need.

The weighting of criteria:

80% for Academic Accomplishment
20% for Leadership

5. TRREB Past President’s Scholarship

Since the program’s inception in 2007, students have benefitted from $244,000 in scholarship money. To qualify, students must demonstrate academic achievement, show an interest in a field related to the real estate industry, leadership skills, and community involvement, address a real estate industry-related question, and write a 1,500- to 1800-word essay on one of two timely topics. This year’s topics address: (1) whether our rental market can accommodate increased demand in the Greater Golden Horseshoe; and (2) resolving the housing supply shortage in the Greater Golden Horseshoe.

Eligible students may apply for one of eight awards: two $5,000 first-place, two $2,500 second-place, two $2,000 third-place, and two $1,500 fourth-place awards. 6. Rol-Land Farms Scholarships

Provided by the University of Guelph, this scholarship was established by Rol-Land Farms, with the assistance of the Ontario government’s OSOTF program, to attract entering students who might otherwise not be able to attend university for financial reasons. Students should complete the online Financial Need Assessment Form for Entrance Awards (E.N.A.F.) application as soon as they receive their acknowledgment email from Admission Services (this will come automatically after an application for admissions has been submitted by the student) or by April 15. The scholarship offers 13 awards of $2,000

Their access award is for students entering a degree program with demonstrated financial need and a minimum 80% cumulative average. Additionally, students must meet the government-mandated terms for receipt of an OSOTF award (see General Statements on Awards)

7. Han Shan Sih Buddhist Society Bursaries for Environmental Studies

The Han Shan Buddhist Society Bursary for Environmental Studies will be awarded to a graduate student in the MES program who exemplifies in her or his study of religious, ethical, or spiritual commitment to the environment. This award is open to graduate students enrolled in the Faculty of Environmental & Urban Change at York University. The student must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and an Ontario resident. To be eligible for application, you must;

8. Kenneth O. Hammill-Blount Canada Scholarship

Provided by the University of Guelph, this scholarship was established in honor of Kenneth Osborne Hammill, a long-time friend of the University and retired plant manager of Blount Canada, with the assistance of the Ontario government’s OSOTF program. Selection will be based on the greatest financial need from the President’s or Lincoln Alexander Chancellor’s Scholarships applicants who were interviewed, but not successful in the competition. Continuation of this scholarship is conditional on maintaining a minimum 77% average over the previous full-time academic year of study and continued demonstration of financial need.

Students who applied for the President’s or Lincoln Alexander Chancellor’s Scholarships should complete the online Financial Need Assessment Form for Entrance Awards (E.N.A.F.) as soon as they receive their acknowledgment email from Admission Services (this will come automatically after an application for admissions has been submitted by the student) or by April 15th. This scholarship offers one award of $9,600 (payable in 8 payments of $1,200)

Access awards are for entering students who have applied for the President’s or Lincoln Alexander Chancellor’s Scholarships who are interviewed, but not successful in the competition with demonstrated financial need. Additionally, students must meet the government-mandated terms for receipt of an OSOTF award (see General Statements on Awards).

9. Fred Hindle Bursary

Awarded in memory of Fred Hindle, O.A.C.’38, a long-time generous supporter of his Alma Mater, who at the time of his death, wanted future students to have the same opportunity for an education as he had received. This bursary is awarded with the assistance of the Ontario government’s OSOTF program. This bursary is dependent on continued demonstration of financial need and successful completion of study to advance into the next year.

Students should complete the online Financial Need Assessment Form for Entrance Awards (E.N.A.F.) as soon as they receive their acknowledgment email from Admission Services (this will come automatically after an application for admissions has been submitted by the student) or by April 15th. This scholarship offers two awards of $5,000 (payable over 4 years) The access awards are for entering O.A.C. degree students with demonstrated financial need. Additionally, students must meet the government-mandated terms for receipt of an OSOTF award (see General Statement on Awards).

10. University of Waterloo Entrance Bursaries

A bursary is money given to a student based on financial need rather than on academic achievement. You don’t need to pay back any money you are awarded as a bursary. Approximately 1,000 first-year Waterloo students who are Ontario residents with financial need and who are starting university or college for the first time may receive a Waterloo entrance bursary, valued from $1,000 to $5,000. To apply, follow the instructions below;

Starting February 1, log in to Quest. Under the Finances menu, click the link to the Entrance Bursary Application.
Complete the quick eligibility check (You must be an Ontario resident as defined by OSAP.)
Fill in all fields on the application. You will need income and tax information for the previous year from your parents, guardians, or spouse.
Click Agree to submit your application.

The application deadline is April 15. Bursaries will be awarded in mid-May.

11. Unilever Canada Graduate Award in Environmental Studies

The Unilever Canada Graduate Award in Environmental Studies is an annual award to support a graduate student who demonstrates a good academic record and financial need. This award is open to all graduate students enrolled in Environmental Studies (MES or PhD) at York University. The award is intended for students with an area of concentration in sustainability. Students must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and an Ontario resident. To be eligible to apply, you must;

Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
Be an Ontario resident.
Demonstrate financial need.
Demonstrate a good academic record.

To apply for this scholarship, follow the steps below;

Step 1: Complete the Office of Student and Financial Services’ Student Financial Profile (SFP) When you visit the SFP website, please select APPLY NOW to complete your submission.
Step Two: Prepare a 2-page summary of proposed research for major project/paper, thesis, or dissertation.
Step Three: Contact two faculty members to be a reference. They must submit this Reference Assessment Form to complete your application. Be sure to inform them of the name of the award you are requesting a reference for and its deadline. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
Step Four: Complete the award application by February 15.

12. Ontario Holstein Dairy Youth Trust Fund Scholarships

This award was initiated in 1980 by the Ontario Holstein Spring Show Committee and is designed to recognize young people (ages 25-35) who are actively involved in the operation of a dairy farm, have shown leadership abilities, and have contributed to their community and their breed. The four district winners receive an all-expenses paid trip to The Westerner Dairy Showcase in Red Deer, Alberta in October. This award is funded by the Ontario Dairy Youth Trust Fund and Holstein Ontario. The selection is decided through a combination of the application and a personal interview.
