1.       UBC International Leader of Tomorrow Award

There are four categories of prestigious need-and-merit-based awards available through UBC’s International Scholars Program. They are;

  • Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award
  • Donald A. Wehrung International Student Award
  • International Impact Award
  • Vantage One Excellence Award

Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award – This award recognizes exceptional prospective international undergraduate students who demonstrate superior academic achievement and exemplary leadership skills that support and empower others through collaboration, empathy, and active listening. It recognizes students who have made a positive impact through their involvement in various school and community service projects and initiatives and attained notable achievement in other academic or extra-curricular pursuits. 

Donald A. Wehrung International Student Award – This award recognizes outstanding international undergraduate students from impoverished or war-torn areas who have achieved academic excellence under challenging circumstances, and who would be unable to attend university without significant financial assistance. Students should demonstrate leadership potential and a strong commitment to making a positive impact in their communities.

International Impact Award – This award is offered to exceptional students who have demonstrated leadership as well as commitment to solutions for sustainability and climate change, natural resource conservation and management, social justice, equity and inclusion, or societal health and wellness. Priority is given to first-generation learners and those from diverse backgrounds.

Vantage One Excellence Award – This award is offered by UBC Vantage College for academically outstanding international students who do not yet meet the English Language Admission Standard for direct admission to UBC. The awards range in value up to the full cost of a student’s academic program and living expenses. Students should demonstrate leadership skills, impactful involvement in student affairs and community service, and notable achievement in other academic or extra-curricular pursuits.

2.       BeArt Presets Academic Scholarships

BeArt-Presets is a group of passionate photographers and designers specializing in Photography, and creating beautiful and functional Lightroom presets and Photoshop actions. They are working together to create life-changing digital experiences. Their goal is to make photography simple and accessible to all photographers, from beginners to professionals. BeArt-Presets offers a $5000 scholarship to two talented students. There will be two winners every year. Applicants can apply only once per year. Two winners will receive a Scholarship Award in the amount of Five Thousand US Dollars ($5000).

Applicants must be either an Undergraduate, a Graduate, or a High School senior. All students, irrespective of nationality, race, or gender are eligible to be considered for this scholarship. The Scholarship is available to anyone in the world, from any demographic. To apply for this scholarship, you have to write an essay according to the instructions provided below. 3.       Emerging Leaders In The Americas Program

The Government of Canada announced the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) in 2009 to support the development of human capital and the next generation of leaders in the Americas while strengthening the linkages between post-secondary institutions in Canada and the Americas. These scholarships provide students from post-secondary institutions located in Latin America and the Caribbean with short-term exchange opportunities for study or research at Canadian post-secondary institutions. 4.       The James Alan Cox Foundation Student Photography Scholarship

Founded in memory of James Alan Cox, a television photojournalist, The James Alan Cox Foundation for Student Photojournalists aims to provide financial support to student photographers of high school and college age. Through a variety of funding, including equipment purchases and scholarships for college and technical school classes, the foundation’s mission is to expand educational and developmental opportunities for student photographers demonstrating interest, talent, and financial need. 5.       Dalhousie University Scholarships

Every year, Dalhousie awards millions in scholarships and bursaries to support incoming students. More than 2,000 entrance awards are available through our General Entrance Award application. If you’re applying to Dalhousie directly from high school (or have not completed any other transferable post-secondary study), complete the General Entrance Award application after you have submitted your application in the Application Portal to be considered for the majority of entrance awards and bursaries available.

These are awarded based on academic achievement, leadership, extracurricular involvement, community service, financial need, and cultural identity. 6.       University of Calgary International Entrance Scholarship

This scholarship is offered annually to undergraduate international students entering their first year in any undergraduate degree in the upcoming fall term who have satisfied the university’s English Language Proficiency requirement. Renewable in the second, third, and fourth year at the University of Calgary, provided recipients achieve a GPA of 2.60 or more over a minimum of 24.00 units in the previous fall and winter terms and continue to pay an international differential tuition fee as an international student. 7.       Humber International Entrance scholarships

New students starting their Diploma and/or Advanced Diploma studies are eligible for consideration for an international entrance scholarship at Humber. This scholarship offers a CAD 2,000 reduction in tuition fees during the first two semesters of study (CAD 1,000 per semester). Humber may consider high school students who have demonstrated academic excellence for the international entrance scholarship, but due to the limited number of scholarships available, only those with the highest GPA (Grade Point Average) will be awarded. Humber’s admissions team will calculate the GPA based on the high school transcripts received during the admissions assessment process.

A total of 20 scholarships will be awarded to new students starting in September, 15 scholarships will be awarded to new students starting in January, and 5 scholarships will be awarded to new students starting in May. Per every starting semester, each recipient must come from a different country. 8.       York University International Student Scholarship

9.       University of Manitoba

The International Undergraduate Student Entrance Scholarship was established to reward academic excellence by international students graduating from international high schools and entering studies at the University of Manitoba. Scholarships will be offered to students who:

  • are international students (i.e. in Canada on valid study permits) who have applied for admission to any Faculty or School at the University of Manitoba by the deadline date of March 1;
  • are paying the international student tuition fee rates;
  • have achieved a minimum high school average of 85% based on the best five senior-level academic courses from their approved General Entrance Scholarship list.

10.   University of Winnipeg Scholarships

The University of Winnipeg offers International Special Entrance Scholarships to new international students entering studies at UWinnipeg following graduation from a high school outside of Canada. Some of the eligibility criteria for application are;

  • Must have the equivalent of a Canadian 85% grade average, based on Grade 12 academic courses used for admission. UWinnipeg International Credential Evaluators will complete grade conversions.
  • Must not have previously attended another post-secondary institution other than for dual credit high school/post-secondary courses.
  • Completed admission application to UWinnipeg no more than 6 months following high school graduation.
  • Must register and maintain a full-time registration during the academic year.
  • May only receive one UWinnipeg entrance award.
