10 Best Scholarships For High School Seniors Going Into Nursing

Just in case you didn’t know, there are scholarships for high school seniors going into nursing. You can apply for these scholarships as a high school senior or if you have recently graduated high school but only if you intend to study nursing.

My younger sister has always been passionate about pursuing a nursing career, ever since she was a little kid all she wanted to become is a nurse whenever she’s asked what she wants to become as an adult. And for all the times we asked her why she wanted to be a nurse her response remained the same “I love how neatly dressed nurses are and how compassionate they are towards patients. I too wish to be that way to other sick people”. This is always her response.

Her passion to become a nurse is even reflected in her behavior, she always wants to help make her sick classmates, friends, or neighbors as comfortable as they can be in their ailment. When she completed secondary school, we already knew what she wanted to study. So, she began preparations to apply for nursing programs which included looking for the best nursing school in the country and how to apply.

With my help, she got all of this information easily but one thing we didn’t know was the cost of nursing school, we never made any inquiries concerning the cost until the last minute. This was when we realized how expensive nursing school is and that we cannot afford it and getting a loan was out of the option because loan sharks were requesting way too much interest.

The cost of nursing school did a number on her passion to study nursing but it did not completely crush her dream. She had to get a job to start saving up money for nursing school, of course, she refused to study something else that we could afford. It’s either nursing school or nothing.

Nursing schools are expensive anywhere in the world and the high cost has shattered and crippled the dreams of aspiring potential nurses. Those who cannot afford it would either have to study something else or get a job to start saving for nursing school like my sister. Sadly, these are factors contributing to the global shortage of nurses and the high demand for nurses and it is caused by the high cost of nursing school.

Writing on the best scholarships for high school seniors going into nursing made me realize that if my younger sister and the many others out there who wish to study nursing but cannot afford it found or had this opportunity, she and these other people must be close to realizing their dream and there won’t be a global shortage in nurses.

With the provision of nursing scholarships for high school seniors, students graduating high school intending to study nursing would not bother so much about the cost rather, they would concentrate on having good grades that will get them into their dream school. Since scholarships are free money awarded to a student with good academic performance or demonstrated need, many high school students would be encouraged to study nursing.

With nursing scholarships made available, the financial barriers to nursing school will be removed thus encouraging more people to study nursing. California and Texas are among the states in the US with a severe shortage of nurses but their governments and other agencies are providing scholarships to those intending to study nursing and those enrolled in nursing programs to increase the number of nurses in the states and it is a working strategy.

The nursing scholarships in California and the scholarships for nurses in Texas were recently published by me, feel free to delve into them to find more scholarships in addition to the ones curated here.
