4 Singapore Polytechnic Scholarship

There are several Singapore Polytechnic scholarships awarded every year to students across various academic programs. SP scholarships are awarded to full-time students with outstanding academic records, leadership qualities, diverse talents, and outstanding achievements.

Below are all available SP scholarships with their details:

1.     SP Scholarship and SP Engineering Scholarship

Every year, 30 SP scholarships and 30 SP engineering scholarships are offered to students with excellent academic and extracurricular records who demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities. The scholarships are available to first-year students enrolled in a full-time diploma course who have done well in their first semester examinations in Singapore Polytechnic.

The eligibility criteria for the SP Scholarship and SP Engineering Scholarship are as follows:

  • You must be a citizen or permanent resident of Singapore
  • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and potential
  • Have no disciplinary records
  • After the year one first semester exam, you must be ranked in the top 5% of your diploma course cohort
  • Have a good pre-SP academic record
  • Have excellent extracurricular records both in secondary school and in SP.

Students who satisfy all eligibility criteria will be nominated by their respective academic school to be considered for the scholarship, that is, after the release of the year one first semester SP examination results. Candidates are only selected via nomination, there is no application form for the scholarship. Candidates who are shortlisted will be notified to attend the scholarship selection interview at a provided date.

The SP Scholarship and SP Engineering Scholarship offer $4,000 tenable for the academic year awarded and can be renewed each year based on excellent academic results, strong CCA records, and good conduct. In addition, you will participate in the SPOT ( Singapore Polytechnic Outstanding Talent) programme and receive subsidies for enrichment programmes.

2.     SP Arts and Sports Award/Scholarship

Have you competed in a national or international sports event or contributed to a national or international art event in Singapore? Then you may be eligible for the SP Arts and Sports Award/Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually, qualified students will receive $4,000 for three years while those who do not qualify will receive a one-time award of $1,000.

Below are the eligibility criteria for the SP Arts and Sports Award/Scholarship:

  • You must be a citizen or permanent resident of Singapore
  • Have excellent academic results
  • Must be enrolled in any full-time diploma course at SP
  • Have excellent CCA records

3.     SP Undergraduate Scholarship

SP is a polytechnic which means they do not offer baccalaureate degree programs therefore some graduates may want to pursue a baccalaureate degree after graduating from SP. Now, this SP Undergraduate Scholarship is for graduates of SP who have been newly accepted at one of the local autonomous universities to pursue a full-time undergraduate degree program.

The local autonomous universities are:

  • Nanyang Technological University (NTU)
  • National University of Singapore (NUS)
  • Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT)
  • Singapore Management University (SMU)
  • Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS)
  • Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).

If you wish to further your education after SP at one of the universities above, you may be eligible for the SP Undergraduate Scholarship award. The total scholarship value is $30,000 disbursed at $10,000 each across the three years of undergraduate studies. So, each year, the recipient will receive $10,000 towards their education and then renew for the second and third years.

For the scholarship to be renewed every academic year, the recipient must maintain excellent academic performance and conduct. Also, if you become the recipient of this scholarship, you must not hold another without the approval of your school and if you decide to withdraw from your school or terminate the scholarship prematurely, you may be required by SP to refund all the scholarship funds you have used so far.

4.     PFP Study Awards

PFP stands for Polytechnic Foundation Programme, a one-year programme for the top ‘N’ Level (Academic) cohort to study in SP to prepare for the pre-selected diploma course instead of continuing with the ‘O’ Level examinations. The PFP Study Award is an award of $340 offered per academic year to 10 PFP students with good academic results and outstanding CCA records.

It is only for citizens or permanent residents of Singapore. Applicants are shortlisted based on their GCE N Level results and CCA performance. If you are among the shortlisted applicants, you will receive an invitation to apply for the award.
