We all understand the cost of getting any degree now is quite expensive, and there’s no promise of it coming down, rather they are increasing mostly because of inflation. But like Robert Orben said, “If You Think Education Is Expensive, Try Ignorance,” perhaps it’s still necessary to get that education. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that school education is the only form of education we can get.

But, the best of these funds is government scholarships to study abroad (at least that’s what I think), and I explained why I think so in the next session.

1. Fulbright Foreign Student Program
This is one of the most popular, beneficial, and extremely competitive scholarships provided by the United States Government to approximately 8,000 students, scholars, teachers, artists, and professionals each year, soaring from more than 160 countries worldwide. The scholarship covers the awardees’ round-trip airfare to the U.S., a settling-in allowance, a monthly stipend, a housing allowance, books-and-supplies allowance, and a computer allowance.
2. Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program
This is another scholarship to study abroad provided by the U.S. government, and Fellows need to be nominated by the U.S. Embassies or Fulbright Commissions based on their potential for leadership and a demonstrated commitment to public service. Applicants need to be pursuing an undergraduate degree, have limited or no prior experience in the United States, demonstrate leadership qualities, and have a record of public service in the community.
3. Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program
This is one of the government scholarships to study abroad in Canada that was created to support the development of human capital and the next generation of leaders in the Americas. Besides the fact that you don’t need to hold or have a pending application for Canadian citizenship or permanent residency as one of the requirements, applicants also need to be enrolled full-time at a post-secondary institution in an eligible country/territory.
4. Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships
This is another international scholarship provided by Canadian Government, to world-class doctoral students who have Academic Excellence, Research Potential, and Leadership ability. Applicants need to be nominated by a Canadian institution and should only seek a nomination from the institution at which they want to study. The award is worth $50,000 per year for three years during doctoral studies.
5. Study in Canada Scholarships
This is among the Canadian government scholarships for international students from a wide range of countries and territories on short-term exchanges for study or research. The price ranges from $10,200 to $12,700 while the duration ranges from 4 months to 6 months.
6. British Chevening Scholarships
This is another extremely competitive scholarship provided by the British Government that is fully funded. As they said, “Chevening is much more than a year of fully-funded study in the UK.”
And, I totally agree with them on that because it provides a unique opportunity for the next generation of leaders, influencers, and decision-makers to develop a relationship with the UK that will grow throughout their careers.
Chevening provides more than 1,500 scholarships to international students annually.
7. UK Commonwealth Scholarships
UK Commonwealth Scholarships are provided to talented postgraduate students in an accredited university in the UK. There are approximately 800 scholarships available annually provided to students from Commonwealth countries.
Applicants also need to have an undergraduate honors degree of at least upper second class (2:1)
8. GREAT Scholarships
This is also provided by the United Kingdom government to international students from eligible 14 countries, to study in a UK university. Winners will be awarded £10,000 towards their tuition fees for a wide range of one-year taught postgraduate courses.
The 14 countries include Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam.
9. DAAD Scholarship Germany
This is one of the German government scholarships to study abroad, that supports well over 100,000 German and international students and researchers around the globe – making it the world’s largest funding organization of its kind. Just like most of these govt financial aids to global students, this one is also primarily focused on graduates, doctoral students, and postdocs.
10. Chinese Government Scholarships
Chinese Government provides several scholarships for students to study in an accredited university in China, some of them include;

11. Czech Republic Government Scholarships
As the name implies, these scholarships are awarded by the Government of the Czech Republic to students from developing third countries. 12. Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters scholarships
The Erasmus Mundus Scholarship is another prestigious and competitive scholarship provided by European Union to Students at the master’s level from all over the world. Applicants need to have a bachelor’s degree (first degree) or be in their last year of bachelor studies and graduate before the master’s program starts.
Scholarships cover the cost of a student’s participation in the program, travel, and a living allowance.
13. Russian Government Scholarships
Every year Russian government provides so-called ‘state-funded spots’ at universities to international applicants and this scholarship covers;
- Free tuition for the entire duration of the chosen program;
- Maintenance allowance

14. Government of Slovenia Scholarships for Study Abroad
Just like so many other government scholarships we have listed, the Government of Slovenia has different kinds of scholarships for different categories of people. One of them is the Zois scholarship which is intended for pupils, students, and participants in adult education as an incentive to achieve exceptional achievements.

19. Danish Government Scholarships
This is another competitive government scholarship to study abroad and is offered to highly talented students with outstanding academic records from non-EU/EEU countries. All non-EU/EEA applicants offered admission will automatically be considered for the scholarship.
The Danish Government Scholarship is granted either as full or partial tuition fee waivers and/or as an amount that covers basic living costs.
20. Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India Scholarships
This Scholarship is to facilitate the low-income students belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Denotified Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes, Landless Agricultural Labourers, and Traditional Artisans category to obtain higher education. Applicants need to be pursuing their Master’s degree or Ph.D. courses in an accredited University in India.
