1. GSLS Travel Fellowships by the University of Würzburg
This is the first on the list of scholarships for Mexican students in Canada. It is offered by the University of Würzburg. GSLS travel fellowships offer GSLS doctoral researchers the opportunity to participate in international conferences and workshops (active participation, talk, or poster presentation, is a prerequisite) or support a research stay in a foreign laboratory. Provided by the government of Ontario, the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) program encourages excellence in graduate studies at publicly assisted universities in Ontario. Since 1975, the OGS program has been providing merit-based scholarships to Ontario’s best graduate students in all disciplines of academic study. The scholarship program at U of T is jointly funded by the Province of Ontario and the University of Toronto. The value of the OGS is $5,000 per session. Each scholarship is tenable for one year (i.e., two consecutive or three academic sessions).

Provided by the Leakey Foundation, the Franklin Mosher Baldwin Memorial Fellowships are intended for students with citizenship in a country where there are limited opportunities for advanced training and education in fields of research related to human origins. This program makes it possible for scholars to pursue education or training from an institution outside or inside of their home country. This award is for a program of approved, advanced special training or studies leading towards an MA or PhD. It is limited to two years of support. The maximum award is limited to $15,000 per year.
4. Leakey Foundation Research Grants
This is another one on the list of scholarships for Mexican students in Canada. The Leakey Foundation exclusively funds research related to human origins. Priority of funding is commonly given to exploratory phases of promising new research projects that meet the Foundation’s stated purpose. The majority of The Leakey Foundation’s Research Grants awarded to doctoral students are in the $3,000-$15,000 range with a funding limit of $20,000. The Dr. Eduard Gübelin Association awards this scholarship for Research and Identification of Precious Stones which is a non-profit entity of the Gübelin Group. The scholarship is intended to provide funding and support to MSc/Ph.D. students or post-doctoral researchers in the fields of earth sciences (mineralogy, geology, geochemistry), crystallography, chemistry, physics, material sciences, archaeology, biology, and related fields, to pursue a research project in the field of earth sciences or a related scientific field. The total value of the scholarship is up to USD 30,000. This amount is invested each year to support the awarded project.
7. Dissertation Fieldwork Grants
Offered by the Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research, this grant program funds doctoral or thesis research that advances anthropological knowledge. Their goal is to support vibrant and significant work that furthers our understanding of what it means to be human. There is no preference for any methodology, research location, topic, or subfield. The Foundation particularly welcomes proposals that integrate two or more subfields and pioneer new approaches and ideas. The maximum Dissertation Fieldwork Grant is $25,000. Grants are nonrenewable. This scholarship is provided by the American Society of Quality and the scholarship honors the memory of Richard A. Freund, a past president of ASQ. It is for graduate study of the theory and application of quality control, quality assurance, quality improvement, and total quality management.
